Kuirau Park A thermal park with boiling mud and a hot lake just 10 minutes walk from Crash Palace Backpackers. Take one of our complimentary fresh towels and relax in one of the foot pools. Redwood Forest Just 45 minutes walk from Crash Palace, the Redwood Forest offers a variety of walks from 30 minutes to 8 hours. A great place to take a picnic. Arts Village Across Hinemaru Street from Crash Palace Backpackers lies a great place to look for a special souvenir to take home. Ohinemutu Marae A classic Marae set on Lake Rotorua. St Faiths Church Just next to Ohinemutu sits St Faiths Church. This beautiful little Church was the first in Rotorua and well worth a look. Kerosene Creek 25 minutes drive from Crash Palace Backpackers, set in a fantastic native bush setting lies a hot water river. Hot and Cold Not far from Kerosene Creek you will find two rivers, one hot the other cold. You can change from one to the other. Government Gardens Beautiful gardens situated on the same street as Crash Palace Backpackers. The Rotorua Lakes The Rotorua area features many amazing lakes. The Blue Lake, great for swimming and water sports. The Green Lake, sacred to the Maori people and off limits to swimming. And Lake Tarawera which lies beneath the famous volcanic Mountain of the same name. Rumoured to be very deep. Glow Worms 20 minutes drive from Crash Palace Backpackers near the Okere Falls you can see these wonderful little worms with their florescent lures. |
