Springfield Hotel and Backpackers

A real old fashioned country Hotel situated in the village of Springfield, only 50 minutes west of Christchurch by car along State Highway 73. Stop in for chat with locals or a meal at the bistro on your way to the West Coast.

Many touring cyclists stop at the Hotel as it is an easy days cycle from Christchurch before they need to tackle the mountains leading to Arthurs Pass. It is also a great place to base yourself if you love bouldering and want to solve some problems up in the Castle Hill Rocks.

We are only 20 minutes from Porters and the best place to get a hearty bistro meal and warm yourself by the fire after a hard day on the slopes.
